The first step after her graduation from Hans Raj college was to complete her masters in Mass Communication. She soon found herself on stage as an anchor and then there was no looking back. Sonam strongly believes that the role of a host is beyond just lending a face and voice to the gathering - she becomes the heart and soul of the event.
After being a recurring name amongst India’s top experiential planners for more than a decade she was ready to conquer new horizons. While acting in a movie was her childhood dream, the quest to identify and choose a perfect script remained unquenched. All this fell into place when she heard the story of KIRKET. She immediately took up on the fresh challenge. The lead role in Kirket felt like it was pen carved out for her as it brought her mass communication education, her theater training and her thirst to witness the drama unfold in a newsroom to reality as well.
The relentless training and classes became a part of her to get into the character of a journalist and resonate with it! Kirket also gave her an opportunity to share the silver screen with the World Cup winning cricketing legend - Kirti Azad as well as illustrious cricketers such as Atul Wassan, Maninder Singh and Manoj Prabhakar.
She says” Although I have faced the camera as an anchor several times but acting is an entirely different ballgame. Initially I was extremely nervous on the set but the workshops and valuable learning imparted by our Director helped me get into the skin of my character - Mahima Deoraj.” She adds "Kirket personally has been an experience of learning, unlearning and relearning” depicting an artist who is always evolving. The movie releases on October 18th across the country and with that starts a new chapter in her book of successes.
