RevSportz Organises ‘Trailblazers Sports Conclave’ In Kolkata

RevSportz organised the ‘Trailblazers Sports Conclave’ in Kolkata on 5 March 2023. The conclave was attended by 22 of India’s leading athletes and multiple leading sports administrators including AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey and AFI President Adille Sumariwalla, the conclave raised pertinent questions on mental health, how to handle pressure, India’s 2024 Olympic chances, and other pressing issues.

Speaking at the conclave, Abhinav Bindra, India’s first Olympic Gold medallist said he always dealt with pressure “badly.” He then went on to say that he learnt to cope with it and that sport made him a better individual. “Sport is about purity. If you follow the process and prepare the best you are already a winner and aren’t dependant on the outcome”, said Bindra. Commenting on the impact of social media, Bindra said, “If you are only doing something for social media likes you are on a very slippery slope. Sport is about values. And that’s what young athletes must remember if they want to win consistently at the highest level. In my case sport taught me to deal with life better” concluded Bindra.

Mirabai Chanu, who was also there at the conclave spoke about her medal prospects at the forthcoming Asian Games. “It is the only medal that is missing from my repertoire. I have won medals at the Olympics, CWG and the World Championships and this year I will have the opportunity to do so at the Asian Games. I am very happy with the way I am preparing and am very confident I will win a medal for India at the Asian Games.” Her coach, Vijay Sharma, also exuded confidence at Chanu’s prospects. “We beat the Olympic gold medallist at the World Championship and now know where we stand against the Chinese. If things go to plan I am confident of Mira winning a gold medal at the Asian Games”, said Sharma.

Pullela Gopichand, Head Coach of the Indian badminton team, said at the conclave that he is very confident Satwik and Chirag have the ability to dominate their sport in the coming years. “They are surely in the top 3 teams in the world and if they are able to stay fit, there is every reason they will win India a medal in Paris 2024”, said Gopi.

Neeraj Chopra, who joined the conclave from South Africa, said “main iss sal yeh 90-meter wala saval khatam kar dunga. Mujhe yeh saval bahut bar pucha gaya hai aur mujhe lagta hai yeh saval ko mein is saal khatam kar dunga”, said Neeraj with a smile.

He also said that he enjoyed speaking to the U-19 world cup winning women’s cricket team and found them to be confident and self aware. “It is not because of me that they won. They won because they were capable and played extremely well”, said the Olympic champion.

Finally, Nikhat Zareen who will be spearheading India’s campaign in the forthcoming Boxing world championship in Delhi, exuded confidence about her chances. “I am confident I will once again do my country proud in Delhi”, said Nikhat and added, “I won’t breathe easy till I win that Olympic gold medal, which is my ultimate dream.” She also said that if she does win an Olympic gold, she would like to meet Salman Khan once again and celebrate with a dance. “When I met Salman Khan I had thought I will ask him the questions but it was he who asked me a lot of questions about my background and my sport. It was a fantastic experience and agar main Olympic gold jitti hoon toh ek dance to ban ta hi hai”, concluded Zareen.

22 athletes from multiple disciplines attended the conclave, which is now going to be an annual affair according to Revsports Founder and CEO Boria Majumdar.
