India-Themed Festival Nirvana To Inaugurate On 26 May In France

NIRVANA - This May Indian Culture & Cinema are coming to the South of France. The stunning seaside town of Saint Tropez will host Indian Filmmakers, Movie Stars, Producers, Writers, Musicians, Artists & Dancers with screenings, producers’ round tables, book launches, food festivals, yoga sessions, and much more.

The first edition of the NIRVANA Festival de la Culture et du Cinema Indiens will be on 26-27-28 May 2023.

NIRVANA has selected Indian Filmmaker Pan Nalin’s Chhello Show (India’s entry at the Oscars 2022) for projection during the festival. Filmmaker Rima Das’s Village Rockstars, Shubhashish Bhutiani’s Hotel Salvation and Rajat Kapoor’s RK/RKAY will be part of the official program of the festival. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, an interesting addition will be the international version of Ketan Mehta’s The Rising (Director’s Cut).

Dhoad – the Gypsies of Rajasthan will especially perform in Saint Tropez. There will be an introduction to Yoga by Praveen Bisht and a Culinary exhibition of Indian Cuisine. Author Dr. Bhuvan Lall’s book India on the World Stage will be launched during the festival. Indian filmmakers Sundaram Tagore, Deepa Sahi, Surina Narula and Sanjay Bhutiani are the confirmed speakers for the Roundtable on Indo French Cinema – the Future is Now. Folkloric festival of the Bravades by Lou Rampèu de Sant- Troupès and Dhoad – the Gypsies of Rajasthan will close the first edition of the NIRVANA.

Jawed Ashraf, Ambassador of India in France, said, the first edition of the NIRVANA festival is a tribute to the India-Saint Tropez partnership tied by threads of history and nurtured through centuries, and one that will bring the two countries, societies and people closer. With flavors of cinema, dance, music, yoga and Indian cuisine, NIRVANA will present a kaleidoscope of India’s culture to the people of the great city of Saint-Tropez and reflect the ancient Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ meaning the world is one family.
