PM To Attend Pravasi Bharatiya Divas In Indore Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to attend the 17th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in Indore, Madhya Pradesh today. It is formally observed on 9 January to celebrate the day when Mahatma Gandhi returned from South Africa to Mumbai, India.

PM tweeted, “"Looking forward to being in the vibrant city of Indore tomorrow, 9th January to mark Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. This is a great opportunity to deepen the connection with our diaspora, which has distinguished itself globally."

It is important to note that this event occurred in 1915. The day is also observed to highlight the contribution of the Non-Resident Indian community to the development of India. It is also known as NRI Day which was first observed in 2003 by the people of the Republic of India.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the official theme of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023 is "Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India's Progress in Amrit Kaal."

The theme focuses on the importance of the Indian diaspora in the development of the country. It is important to note that every year a new theme is chosen to celebrate the day.

Another goal of the organisation is to establish a network of Indians living abroad in 110 different nations. educating the general public on the contribution that immigrants have made to India’s positive international relations. establishing a link between the rising Indian generation and the immigrant brethren. to talk about the challenges that Indian workers encounter when working abroad.
