The Entertainment and Event Management Association (EEMA) organized a virtual event to reenergize the initiative WE CARE. The initiative discusses the major issues existing in the industry and ways to not only overcome them but to also find solutions.
Highlighting the goal of the initiative, Samit Garg, President of EEMA said, “WE CARE deals with critical issues such as gender inequality, sexual harassment at the workplace, and many other such things. These issues are prevalent in our society and affect people from practically all walks of life. As an industry we have a responsibility to address these issues and create a workplace that is safe and equitable for all.” The virtual summit was held to revitalize the aim of the initiative and to start afresh with a new team and a new logo, he added.
The panel included Samit Garg, Brian Tellis, Sabbas Joseph, Sanjoy Roy, and Roshan Abbas as well as the new Committee comprising Sushma Gaikwad, Chairperson, Manika Garg, Vice Chairperson as well as Committee members Chetan Vohra and Sapna Subramaniyum. The interactive session started an important conversation on inclusivity, diversity, biases rooted in ableism, sexism, homophobia and other issues. The panelists shed light on the existence of these issues in the industry and their impact.
The panel and team collectively revealed the new and improved visual identity for the initiative. Then an open helpline for emotional, physical, sexual, and mental concerns was displayed.
Panelists shared their thoughts and personal experiences with the sensitive issues at hand and started a larger conversation surrounding said issues. The event proceeded with interactive polls with the audience wherein the panelists also discussed specific issues.
