UVA Darden To Initiate Dialogue On Stakeholder Capitalism & Business Ethics

The event held in collaboration with BW Businessworld and the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum will take place in New Delhi on 25 September, 2024, and marks the maiden presence of Professor R. Edward Freeman in India

The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, in partnership with BW Businessworld and the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum, is set to host an influential event in New Delhi, focusing on the themes of stakeholder capitalism, business ethics, and leadership challenges in today's dynamic environment. The session which will take place in in New Delhi on 25 September, 2024, will feature renowned scholars and top business and political leaders, making it a must-attend for executives seeking to gain fresh insights into sustainable business strategies.

A key highlight of this thought leadership event is the maiden presence of Professor R. Edward Freeman, widely regarded as the father of stakeholder capitalism, in India. Freeman, a leading scholar in corporate responsibility and business strategy, will present his views on how stakeholder-centric strategies foster long-term business success. His work has shaped contemporary thinking on the way businesses should account for the interests of all stakeholders—customers, employees, suppliers, communities, and shareholders—to achieve sustainable growth.

The session will be led by Freeman.  The dialogue will also feature Scott Beardsley, Dean of the UVA Darden School and former McKinsey Senior Partner and other prominent business and political leaders, including Anand Stanley, President - Asia-Pacific, Airbus and a Darden alumnus; Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director, Nestlé India; Meenakshi Lekhi, Advocate and Former MOS Foreign Affairs and Culture; and Dr Annurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, BW Businessworld.
