USISPF To Host U.S.-India Energy Roundtable At India Energy Week 2023

The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) will be hosting a focused U.S.-India Energy Roundtable on the sidelines of the India Energy Week in Bengaluru on Tuesday, February 7. The Chief Guest will be Hardeep Singh Puri, the Honorable Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India.

Energy is a key pillar in the strategic partnership as both Washington and New Delhi coalesce to tackle climate action with a focus on green energy and the Indian government’s plan to expand green hydrogen production and curb its dependence on energy imports and fossil fuel.

This roundtable brings together an eclectic mix of public and private sector professionals at a time when India and the U.S. are increasing energy cooperation, and clean energy is a clear focus with the backdrop of India's G20 presidency and the recently concluded U.S. India Strategic Partnership (SCEP) Dialogue.

Mukesh Aghi, President, and CEO of USISPF who will be presenting the opening remarks stated “this roundtable is a good opportunity to take a stock of the bilateral partnership in energy cooperation and discuss avenues for the private sector contribution towards India's energy security and energy transition, under the SCEP framework. To solve the pressing energy problems of the 21st century, it’s the private sector in both countries that can work collaboratively with both governments.”

The roundtable discussion will highlight opportunities in India's energy sector, especially in the oil and gas, emerging fuels, and energy transition space.

Also speaking at the event will be Taranjit Singh Sandhu, India’s Ambassador to the United States, and Dr. Andrew Light, Assistant Secretary, Office of International Affairs, U.S. Department of Energy.

India Energy Week is the pre-eminent platform for experts in the traditional and non-traditional energy industry from around the world and will embody India’s energy ambitions, showcasing it as a global powerhouse for energy transition and a hub that brings together the international energy industry. Taking place in February in Bengaluru, India, the inaugural edition will convene leaders from the energy value chain, finance, government, think tanks, and academia to address the challenges and opportunities presented by a responsible energy transition that balances security, affordability, access, and sustainability.

The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) is committed to creating the most powerful partnership between the United States and India. As the only independent not-for-profit institution dedicated to strengthening the U.S.-India partnership in Washington, D.C., and in New Delhi, USISPF is the trusted partner for businesses, non-profit organizations, the diaspora, and the governments of India and the United States.
