In an effort to boost tourism across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is developing 12 major tourism circuits.
A key focus is on enhancing the spiritual circuit, leveraging its significant potential.
According to a government spokesperson, a detailed action plan has been crafted to promote tourism within this circuit. The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has begun implementing this comprehensive strategy.
Key components of the action plan include conducting surveys of tourist destinations, performing gap analysis to identify areas for improvement, and adhering to the UP Tourism Policy Document 2022. The plan prioritizes standards based on the 7 S's: Suchna (Awareness), Swagat (Welcome), Suvidha (Amenities), Suraksha (Safety), Swachthta (Cleanliness), Sanrachna (Infrastructure), and Sahyog (Support).
In recent years, Uttar Pradesh has made remarkable strides in its tourism sector, becoming a prominent destination that attracts tourists worldwide. The development of Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Ayodhya Dham, along with their respective corridors, has elevated these sites to premier tourist attractions in the state.
Additionally, the upcoming Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj in 2025, expected to draw an astounding 30 crore participants, further highlights Uttar Pradesh's growing significance on the tourism map.
To strategically boost tourism development across various circuits, including the spiritual circuit, a detailed project report (DPR) is set to be prepared. This DPR will conduct comprehensive tourist gap analyses, establishing a new direction for tourism initiatives.
Furthermore, this report is crucial for branding, marketing, and other key aspects. It will establish standards such as the handling capacity of tourist destinations within the spiritual circuit. Based on these criteria, optimal strategies for developing each tourist destination will be determined.
Data will also be gathered through photography, video clips, and drone coverage.
According to the action plan, the agency selected by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department to conduct the tourist gap analysis will work closely with department officials to develop a survey methodology tailored to the department's requirements.
The survey report will include feedback sampling from visitors, along with photography and video documentation of all chosen tourist destinations, to be integrated into the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
The action plan involves gathering feedback from visitors at all designated tourist spots and destinations specified in the DPR.
This process encompasses collecting tourism statistics, assessing growth trends and capacity, and prioritizing a citizen-centred approach. By adopting national and international best practices, learning from global experiences, and harnessing advanced technology, this holistic approach aims to efficiently manage and enhance these sites.
These initiatives are projected to increase the state government's revenue and draw more tourists, thereby stimulating significant foreign investments. These investments are expected to create jobs, upgrade local infrastructure, and promote overall regional development.
