According to media reports, in preparation for the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uber has introduced electric auto-rickshaw services to facilitate convenient and affordable travel for both locals and tourists. The service, available through the Uber mobile app, is optimised for quick booking to accommodate a large number of rides.
Uber is further planning to roll out UberGo and Uber Intercity services in and around Ayodhya, with the intercity option accessible from all cities in Uttar Pradesh. Expressing enthusiasm for this expansion, Uber India, President, Prabhjeet Singh highlighted the aim to provide enhanced mobility options and create earning opportunities in the region.
These services are strategically introduced to boost tourism in Ayodhya by offering accessible, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly transportation options. With the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir scheduled for 22 January, an event expected to attract a significant number of tourists, the new transportation services aim to cater to the increased demand.
The ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will witness the enthronement of Lord Ram in the newly-constructed Ram Mandir. PM Modi has also announced a special 11-day ritual leading up to the ceremony. Additionally, the UP government is actively constructing India's largest floating screen at Ayodhya's Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat, which will be installed at Aarti Ghat, intending to display the ceremony and related programs on Ayodhya's history.
