Prayagraj's Social Media Conclave Paves Way For Maha Kumbh

As per a media report, in anticipation of the global promotion for the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, the Yogi government is set to host a social media conclave. The initiative aims to engage both governmental and non-governmental agencies to effectively connect with a diverse audience, as stated by an official from the Tourism Department.

Historically, the organisation of the Maha Kumbh has been exclusively undertaken by government agencies. However, there is a notable shift as the state government is now proactively engaging non-governmental agencies in the planning process. Aparajita Singh, Regional Tourism Officer of Prayagraj, expressed the Tourism Department's desire to establish connections with a broader audience for the Maha Kumbh by involving various stakeholders.

Singh mentioned, "Everyone may possess valuable insights, and it's possible that some individuals may not have had the opportunity to communicate their ideas to the government until now. To bridge this gap and incorporate diverse perspectives, the Tourism Department will organise a competition inviting ideas related to organising the Maha Kumbh."

Participants presenting the most distinctive ideas in this competition will receive encouragement and acknowledgment from the Tourism Department. Singh stated that these ideas will be seamlessly incorporated into the planning and organisation of the Maha Kumbh.

In anticipation of the Maha Kumbh event, the Tourism Department in Prayagraj is actively coordinating diverse initiatives aimed at boosting the branding and promotion of tourist destinations. As part of these efforts, a ‘Social Media Conclave’ is in the planning stages. A proposal seeking government approval has been submitted, and the two-day conclave is scheduled for March.

The event will kick off with a session featuring local social media influencers, followed by another session featuring global influencers. Additionally, tour operators from tourism hubs nationwide are being invited to contribute insights on attracting tourists to the Maha Kumbh. The participation of hotel entrepreneurs in these discussions is also encouraged.

According to a press release from the Chief Minister's office, all stakeholders will be invited to submit proposals for necessary facilities for tourists, while a thorough review of current supply shortcomings will also be undertaken.

The effectiveness of social media in amplifying public awareness campaigns is widely acknowledged. Whether it's elevating Prayagraj's position in Swachh Survekshan or reinforcing cleanliness initiatives for the upcoming Maha Kumbh, involving local citizens is crucial.

Chandra Mohan Garg, the Municipal Commissioner of Prayagraj, emphasised the importance of this approach, bringing out that recognising this necessity, the Municipal Corporation is leveraging social media for the cleanliness campaign. Meetings have already been held with over a dozen social media influencers. Following these interactions, city residents will soon witness the city's cleanliness initiatives and urban activities showcased on various social media platforms. Proactive youth engaged on social media will play a key role in promoting awareness of cleanliness among the urban population.

Through platforms like reels and other social media mediums, residents will be informed to contribute towards improving the city's cleanliness rating ahead of the Maha Kumbh.
