Couple Invites Guests On Google Meet, To Get Food Delivered via Zomato In Pandemic Wedding

A Bengali Couple, who are set to tie the knot on January 24 in West Bengal have taken a unique way of getting over the ongoing restrictions on weddings, owing to rising Omicron cases.

As per reports, the wedding will have only a hundred guests who will be physically present, while the remaining 350 guests will attend the wedding on Google Meet through two links shared with them, as the platform has a cap of 250 people joining at one time. The guests won't miss the sumptuous food though, as Zomato will be the delivery partner, to get the food across.

"I had Covid between 4 and 14 January and was hospitalised. I didn’t want such a situation for other guests coming from outside, who would attend the wedding. We decided that we still have to take adequate precautions. Aditi’s father was admitted”,  the would-be groom was quoted in a news report.

The restrictions by the West Bengal government have been relaxed from 50 guests to 200 guests who can physically attend a wedding. However, the couple still decided to go ahead with the online wedding ceremony, which will allow their guests from across the state and a few from Bangalore to be part of the auspicious occasion.

The wedding date was pushed back from last year due to the pandemic and after finalising the date again, the couple found themselves in a similar situation again during the third wave of the pandemic.
