Bira91 Stands For Modern India: Ankur Jain, Founder & CEO, Bira 91

The two-day summer celebration of ‘music, comedy, theatre, food, art and immersive experiences’ organised by Bira91—April Fool’s Fest, concluded in the capital with a footfall of 12,000 .The festival programming had an eclectic mix, with something for everyone.

The vibe at the two day fest was comforting and easy going.The whole arena was divided into different segments, one side with the main stage where live music was being performed by the artists. The other side was lined up withstand-up comedy artists for the audience to chill and have a good laugh. The rest of the arena covered food and beer stalls with special seating arrangements.

Commenting on the festival, Ankur Jain, Founder & CEO, Bira 91 expressed that the festival showcased what he had imagined. He said, “I love the balance between energy and creativity. Bira91 stands for modern India. Imagination is what creativity is and it’s all about the creative new modern India”.

As part of the comic acts there was Rahul Subhramaniam, KaneezSurka, Aadar Malik and Naveen Richard from the Improv Dream Team, along with acts by Rohan Joshi and NishantSuri. Tickling the funny bones, the Room 91 also featured Rahul Dua, Prashasti Singh, Kunal Kamra, Sejal Bhat and AishwaryaMohanraj.

Adding to the festival elements, this year saw “Kommune Hour”, an hour full of storytelling and spontaneity. The artists participating included Kautuk Srivastava, HariSankar, Sheena Khalid,ShikharKamat, Tess Joseph, Srishti Dixit and Priya Malik.

 “April Fools’ Fest is true to the irreverent and colourful soul of Bira 91. With the second edition of the festival, we wanted to bring alive an immersive experience of music, comedy, food, art and theatre. The festival was a celebration of the most playful day of the year, true to the brand’s philosophy of Make Play,” added Jain.

The main stage featured heavy hitters such as Naezy, The One Eight Project by Prabhdeep, Raja Kumari, DJ SA, Monica Dogra, MadStarBase, DJ Ishani, DJ MoCity, Shah Rule, Youngsta, Nash Jr, SeedheMaut & Sez on the beat. Also performing at the festival was Coven Code, India’s first all-female collective promoting art, music, non-binary culture and freedom.

The theme for the immersive theatre this year was Cricket, connecting Bira 91’s association with the International Cricket Council and the upcoming Cricket World Cup at England & Wales. There were fun, playful theatre artists interacting with the festival attendees through props and installations.
