Abu Dhabi's Esports Island To Compete Against Saudi Arabia

As per a media report, Abu Dhabi, renowned for its opulence and innovative ethos, is poised to transform the global gaming scene. In response to Saudi Arabia's esports initiatives, Abu Dhabi is embarking on an unprecedented venture: the world's first esports island.

Spanning 500,000 square meters, this pioneering project aims to establish a gaming paradise. Spearheaded by True Gamers, an esports lounge network, the $280 million development is set to redefine gaming in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

At the core of Abu Dhabi’s esports island is the True Gamers eSports club, featuring cutting-edge facilities such as professional gaming training centres and the state-of-the-art TG Arena, tailored for international tournaments. Accompanying these amenities is a deluxe hotel experience, offering experiences like PUBG-style parachute check-ins for gamers.

This initiative transcends entertainment, addressing the needs of the Middle East's gaming community, with over 60 per cent of its population identifying as gamers. Abu Dhabi's esports island represents a strategic investment, catering to tech-savvy youth through top-tier gaming facilities and innovative programs like the GG Bootcamp, focusing on optimising performance through specialised nutrition and rest regimens.

Beyond gaming, the island offers an array of attractions, including a dedicated arena with simulators and streaming zones, alongside the Digital Tower, fostering collaboration among workspace and animation developers.

Anton Vasilenko, CEO, and Co-founder of True Gamers, emphasises the planning behind the project, citing extensive market analysis and a deep understanding of the global esports landscape. This strategic approach underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to establishing itself as a leader in the esports arena.

Yet, Abu Dhabi encounters competition from Saudi Arabia, whose aspirations in esports are monumental. Qiddiya City's esports district, anticipated to surpass Vatican City in size, presents a formidable adversary. It features the world’s largest esports stadium and a plethora of amenities.

With its forward-thinking strategy and steadfast dedication to innovation, the UAE’s capital is positioned to establish itself as a worldwide epicentre for esports enthusiasts, establishing fresh benchmarks for digital excellence.
