Attend the 10th Sharjah Light Festival: Every year, in February, the Emirate of Sharjah illuminates its architectural glory. The Sharjah light Festival in 2020 is scheduled from 5-15 February and is a perfect ‘reason’ to visit Sharjah, next year.

The festival unveils in the form of light and music shows on iconic constructions like the University City Hall, Police Academy, Heart of Sharjah, Al Noor Mosque and Al Qasba in the West to Municipality buildings in Kalba and Khorfakkan in the East Coast of Sharjah. Spread across multiple locations, each show in the festival narrates a unique story, curated by renowned artists from all over the world. Every show lasts approximately for 10-20 minutes and plays on a loop from 6pm to 11 pm on weekdays and continues till midnight on Sundays.

Every year the elements of the light festival remain a closely held secret, the awe-inspiring festival is always a special surprise, however, with the help of technology advancements, the decorations, lightings and musical celebrations are expected to be bigger and better than ever especially as it will be the 10th anniversary year. There will be international and local artists, curators and musicians creating a fascinating display of lights, colours and music in the city plus an exciting collaboration with 2 of the most highly regarded universities in the area, students from AUS and the University of Sharjah will participate in the creation of two special shows to be projected on the main buildings of both universities.

In addition to this 11-day long celebration, the closing ceremony at the Al Majaz waterfront is a carnival not to be missed. Boats in the shape of dragons that spit fire; dancers tapping their feet to dreamy music and firecrackers that brighten up the evening sky set a dreamlike spectacle.
