VR To Lead Event Tech In A Big Way: Nitish Mittersain, Nazara Technologies

Pandemic has been the digital transformation officer for the event tech industry that has adopted it virtually. The event technology landscape has dramatically changed in the past few years. Another industry that saw a paradigm shift and became mainstream during the lockdown, was the gaming industry. One of the early movers in the gaming segment had been Nazara Technologies Ltd that recently went public with its IPO. Nazara's Founder & Jt MD, Nitish Mittersain analyses how the future opportunities look like for the event tech industry.

While drawing a parallel between the growth path of the gaming as well as the event tech industry, Mittersain speaks, “We need to look at the growth story of the gaming industry. It is going to be a completely virtual environment in few years down the line. Similarly, the event tech is heading towards a virtual reality world. The metaverse is here to stay with event tech. Even though the industry is in its nascent days, the future is on the same lines as to where the gaming industry is today.”

Mittersain further adds, “VR will lead both event tech and gaming industries in a big way. That’s a huge emerging trend. From a holistic perspective, the last couple of years have disrupted everything we do and have taken us virtually. One of our recent acquisitions of a gaming company in Turkey was done virtually. Even companies are doing acquisitions, investments, and events online. This shows the participation and learning through events will surely happen on a large scale in the future.”

The opportunities in event tech are far greater today than it was a long ago. Commenting on how to scale up the event tech business, the entrepreneur remarks, “In terms of scale-up, the hygiene factors need to get levelled up, which means the basic architecture like server latency must be looked after. If that is not in place, the consumer experience is impacted. As you scale up, you will fall flat. It is one important thing for the event tech business that falls under the service sector.”
