Vijay Nair, OML: Electric Daisy Carnival will be bigger than anything Delhi has ever seen

“The sheer scale of the festival will be unique, as everything is being detailed with close scrutiny. We are producing the whole experience in tune with that of EDC at Vegas, which is among the largest music festivals in the world. The audience will not have seen anything like it before”, declares Nair.

As is the custom with EDC, it aims to present a carnival environment, and therefore will be replete with performance artists. A lot of artists will be flying in from USA for the purpose, and they will be joined by performers from India. Dressed as different characters throughout the festival, they shall parade, and interact with the crowds. To add to the spirit, there will be a moving stage called the Art Farm, hosting the characters, wheeling through the grounds, to be followed by everybody.

EDC is big on artistic display, and so the audience may get ready to expect massive art and visual installations, that are thematically curated. The designs and the stages are all part of the central theme representing nature. To be mentioned here is the fact that OML is bringing the same stage set-up as Vegas. “There will be four themed stages in total, and an overwhelming magnitude of magnificence,” declares Nair.

Speaking about the manifestations of the four stages Nair reveals, one of the main stages is the Kinetic Field. The prevailing factor here is Wind. Other stages will be built around the elements of fire, water or air. Resonating these themes will be genre specific sound and beats, one of them being Dreamstate, a stage for trance lovers.

Nair promises a varied portfolio of renowned artists. While there are international performers like Afrojack ,Alesso, Ferry Corsten , and Markus Schulz, OML has ensured an equal proportion of Indian headliners that include Arjun Vagale, Nucleya and Shaan.

The festival has a conscience too! In keeping with the tradition of EDC it has partnered with an NGO, Music Basti, which will receive a portion as donation from the proceeds from ticket sales.

“Music Basti is an organization we have worked with before, their work is connected to exactly what we do- Music. They do music classes and resound concerts for underprivileged kids and it’s a good connection to the core of the festival. We feel honored to partner with it,” said Nair.

While we keep an eye out for more scoop on EDC, the trailers may have set other music festival promoters biting their nails, as it’s unique propositions continue to fan expectations of the masses.
