The Industry Does Not Like Easy Things, It is Accustomed To Bigger Challenges: Mitin Upadhyay

How have the past months of the pandemic been for you?

Pandemic has been equal or more like anyone else In our industry but what it has made me realize is that no matter how good an emcee you are, it stands nothing close to a having a GREAT internet, Good mic, excellent lighting and a green screen at home. These materialistic things in the new normal defines you.

With everything happening online, the live events industry went through a big transformation as well. How did you adapt to this change?

Learning is a key to enormous beginnings and I took this as a new chapter in my professional career. I made sure that I bought everything required to make an event managers life a little easy in these unprecedented times like buying out a green screen, studio lights, a great mic, teleprompter, multiple backgrounds to choose from than a green screen and fixed a high-speed fiber internet connection with LAN support and if that wasn’t enough, I got another high-speed fiber internet connection with LAN support. I knew this was the most important thing in the virtual world.

Tell us about some of your recent events.

I have been hosting virtual from home but mostly hosting a hybrid virtual from big studios and I recently shot for a pharmaceutical company for their biggest event of the calendar with Neha Dhupia. And when both of us are on any given platform, you are to be sure of high energy at all times and great fun. In fact, the vibe we bring in together can be felt on screen.

Has the online transition made your job easy?

I have the same question to all my event industry folks before I answer. Has the online transition made their job easy? Has it?

Well, the answer is a BIG NO. We belong to event industry for a reason, we are the people who believe and have lived life by real action on ground, from recce to execution to dismantle. There is a surreal life to it one can live and virtual gives you nothing close to it. We don’t like easy things, we are accustomed to bigger challenges, we get a kick in doing the impossible possible. I am sure everyone who is reading this is nodding their heads with a smile.

Tell us some of the positives of hosting events online?

This one is my favorite and the only positive I see is that I can host an online event in my shorts or maybe even nothing. Pun intended.

Tell us some of the challenges that you have faced while hosting virtual events.

Virtual hosting has a few challenges but if you are a professional you can manage all of it and I have done it in several occasions, because honestly I love playing my part in the errors, but there are a couple of challenges one can't do much about it and we must educate our clients about it:

· Internet dropouts from either of the end.

“Agar main client ka Internet gaya toh use understand kaha jata hai par agar kissi Emcee ka internet gaya toh usko fault kaha jata hai” saccha hai par sahi hai

How is the rest of 2021 looking & what are you looking forward to?

2021 is hit harder than 2020 and the only way one can look forward to it is with positivity. And that’s exactly what I am doing, learning new things to come back stronger as a professional and something that defines a new profession in me. Working on my fitness at most to make sure I am sharper than ever and energetic and beyond. Reading books on books to enhance my knowledge and be ready for anything coming my way. I am sure to work and continue to partner with my event agencies and deliver the promise of experience. And wait for the covid 19 to fade away from all our lives and give us our life back.
