As Mumbai has gotten into the groove of Ganesh Utsav, Swiggy Instamart infused the festivities with a twist by unveiling an instant Modak dispenser on Carter Road. Modaks, revered as Lord Ganesha’s cherished treat, were a quintessential part of the celebrations, and Mumbaikars embraced this installation with enthusiasm. Available on 6 and 7 September, 2024 the dispenser gave away 1,000 modaks daily—completely free of cost—dispensing approximately 142 modaks every hour. The vibrant orange machine, with its whimsical design, beckoned passersby to indulge in a sweet surprise. This initiative emerged from a collaboration between Swiggy and their partners, Havas Media and Havas Media Tribes.
The dispenser featured an engaging mechanism: customers rang a bell, triggering an audio sensor that released a single modak, hygienically packed in a box, within five seconds. Each modak box included a QR code that directed users to Swiggy Instamart’s comprehensive Ganesh Chaturthi section on the platform. This section offers everything from pooja essentials and modak-making kits to a variety of modak flavours and eco-friendly Ganesha idols. Customers can conveniently access these items within just 10 minutes on Swiggy Instamart.
With the Marathi phrase 'Ghanti Vajwa, Mithai Milwa' (ring the bell, get the sweet) emblazoned on the dispenser, Swiggy Instamart won the hearts of Mumbaikars. The festive initiative sparked widespread excitement, with many users taking to social media to commend Swiggy's innovative blend of festivity and convenience.
Phani Kishan Addepalli, Co-founder, Swiggy posted on Twitter “Ganapati Bappa Morya! 🙏.Folks in Amchi Mumbai - pls check out our Instamodak dispenser on Carter Road today and tomorrow and get into the festive spirit. Ring the bell and get your modak box instantly!”
