Realty Mavens Congregate At 16th Realty+ Conclave & Excellence Awards 2024 West
Real estate's biggest names gathered at Taj Santacruz, Mumbai on 22 August, 2024 for a day of knowledge sharing, motivation and inspiration
It was an exciting day and an enigmatic parade of real estate leaders throughout the 16th Realty+ Conclave & Excellence Awards 2024 West. The conclave held at Taj Santacruz, Mumbai on 22 August, 2024, sparked discussions and conversations, while the felicitations of iconic leaders with words of motivation from real estate gurus set the ball rolling for the awards evening, making it a celebration of excellence.
The event was co-partnered by Colliers, VTP Realty, Champion Infratech, Nisus Finance Services, ArisInfra Solutions, and Kunvarji Realty. The digital partner was Realatte. Industry partners were Naredco, Area Group. Event associates were Welspun One Logistics Park, M Realty, and B Kandhari Properties. Proptech partner was Absolute CX and AEC Technology Partner was Nemetschek Group.
The event kick-started with the first discussion on Catalysts & Challenges For Mumbai Realty Growth with speakers Piyush Gupta, Managing Director - Capital Markets and Investment Services India, Colliers; Ashok Mohanani, Chairman, Ekta World; Chintan Sheth, Chairman & Managing Director, Sheth Realty; K Mukund Raj, Real Estate Expert; Parvesh Sharma, Country Head India, Tishman Speyer India; Rajat Rastogi, Chief Executive Officer- West & Commercial Assets, Puravankara and Vimalendra Singh, Chief Business Officer (Residential), Mahindra Lifespaces. The speakers illuminated the evolution of Mumbai's real estate market, showcasing the city's multifaceted growth over the past decade. They explored how Mumbai has expanded and flourished across residential, office, and commercial sectors, marking a decade of substantial progress and transformation.
The next session on Customer Expectations & Evolving Tech Innovations comprised speakers Nirav Gosalia, Co-Founder, Realatte; Govind Rai, Co-Founder & CEO, Insomniacs Digital; Jay Deliwala, Director, Kunvarji Realty Advisors; Meet Merchant, General Manager – Marketing, Oberoi Realty; Rahul Bansal, Co-founder & CEO, Propacity; Vijay Kandhari, MD & CEO, B Kandhari Group and Ashish Chablani, Asst Vice President – Head Marketing MMR Region, Runwal. Integrating the customer's viewpoint, the sessions explored the impact of cutting-edge technology innovations on the market, providing a comprehensive understanding of the evolving landscape.
The next deliberations on New Shifts In Real Estate Finance & Funding had speakers such as Shobhit Agarwal, MD & CEO, Anarock Capital Advisors; Abdul Kader Suriya, CIO - SWAMIH Investment Fund, SBICAP Ventures; Anand Lakhotia, Managing Director & Co-head, Motilal Oswal Real Estate; Ashish Mehta, Director, Elegance Realty; Binitha Dalal, Founder & Managing Partner, Mt. K Kapital & Head Fundraising, Rustomjee Group and Srinivasan Gopalan, CEO, Arisinfra Solutions. The panel discussion delved into the financial and funding dynamics of the real estate sector, examining how it has undergone a significant transformation and exploring the obstacles that arise when securing funding for projects.
The final panel discussion on the topic Strategies For Effective Redevelopment Projects saw the presence of Ritesh Mehta, Head – West, North and East, Residential Advisory Services & Developer Initiatives, JLL India; Dr. Adv. Harshul Savla, Managing Director, M Realty; Nilabh Nagar, Senior Associate Architect, (AHC) Architect Hafeez Contractor and Ram Raheja, Director, S Raheja Realty and Advocate Sunil Ramani, Ramani Legal. The panel discussion centred on the crucial role of redevelopment in metropolitan areas, emphasizing its urgency and highlighting current initiatives and efforts underway to address this pressing need.
The conclave concluded with a talk by Sapna Srivastava Editor Realty+ with Real Estate Gurus Amit Goenka, MD & CEO, Nisus Finance Services Co and Chaitanya Seth, Partner, Consulting – Real Estate, EY India on their inspiring success stories. The inspiring leaders shared from what fascinates them about real estate and criticism about their profession to a straight-from-heart message to the developers and young aspiring individuals in real estate.
The starry beginning of the Realty+ Excellence Awards evening was an exclusive conversation on Let's Talk Real Estate: Sentiments & Confidence among Gulam Zia, Executive Director Valuation & Advisory, Retail Hospitality, Knight Frank India; Ambar Maheshwari, CEO, Indiabulls Investment Management; Girish Singhi, Co-chief Investment Officer, Welspun One; Charu Thapar, Executive Director- Property & Asset Management, AsiaPacific, Head - Strategy, Platform & Emerging Markets, JLL and Sunil Rohokale, MD & CEO, Ask Group. The speakers emphasised on how sentiments play a major role in real estate and not just the locations, price and other amenities of a project but also the bright future of the sector, albeit not forgetting to be cautious.
An inspiring keynote address by Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman – Hiranandani and Naredco took the event to the next level, while the full-packed audience listened to his words of wisdom. He spoke about how India has grown in terms of infrastructure. He expressed, that 10 years ago, India aimed to build 5 km of national highway, and today India has surpassed that goal with 35 km. The future target is an ambitious 45 km. Additionally, the development of metro lines has revolutionised Mumbai's micro market. “To further progress, there is a need to adopt a radical shift in rental housing policies, a change the sector has been advocating for with the government. Let's work together to make India's infrastructure among the best in the world,” was his message.
Another inspirational keynote address by legendry R. C. Sinha, I.A.S. (Retd.), Ex. Addl. Chief Secretary, Govt. of Maharashtra left the audience asking for more. He pressed on the need to shift from metro to non-metro cities. He emphasised that a political vision is essential for any development, and it requires national support from both the government and other sectors like real estate, particularly for emerging cities. He stressed that bureaucrats and officers leading these new city projects should be given the autonomy to execute their tasks without interference, allowing them the freedom to succeed. His closing remark was to build new 20-30 Mumbai’s to make India a developed country.
The day ended with a dazzling evening of felicitations honouring the ‘Iconic Leaders of Indian Realty’.
