Pro Wrestling League running circles around competition indicates data

While comparing this league with other popular sporting leagues in India that have featured prominent national and international grapplers, it has been seen that the Pro-Wrestling League Season 2 has out performed the Pro-Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 4 in Northern India. Additionally, PWL-2 has outperformed the Premier-Badminton League (PBL) and has received 847% more viewership especially in the opening week. It has also delivered better than the Kabaddi World Cup (KWC) reveals data procured from BARC India (15+ years, male SEC A).

For instance, PWL-2 has received 0.57% more viewership than Kabaddi World Cup that has received an average rating of 0.51%. In comparison to PKL Season 4, PWL-2 has received an total average rating of 3.61% and PKL has received a viewership of 3.21% only. Further comparing to the ongoing PBL 2, PWL-2 received a viewership of 0.44% as compared to 0.05% in the opening week. Looking at the figures, PWL 2 has been of the few non-cricketing leagues to receive such a huge viewership.

Commenting on the viewership figures, Kartikeya Sharma, Founder and Promoter, ProSportify, said that, “It has been a good year for wrestling and such a high level of interest gives us an opportunity to invest and diversify further to encourage new talent.”

Vishal Gurnani, Director, ProSportify further added “It is good to see people’s interest develop in a non-cricketing league and Pro Wrestling League Season 2 has witnessed huge crowds in the stadium as well as a much bigger television viewership to see and support the increasingly popular sport of wrestling.”

The 2017 edition of the Pro Wrestling League saw some big names participate including Olympians such as Sakshi Malik, Mariya Stadnik , Erica Wiebe, Sofia Mattsson, Vladimir Khinchegashvili, Odunayo Folasade and Elizbar Odikadze, to name a few. Some of the world champions include Babita Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Abdusalam Gadisov, Magomed Kurbanaliev and many more.

PWL-2 has also received support from many Bollywood celebrities, bureaucrats and sportspersons like Dharmendra ji, Bobby Deol, Sunny Deol, Jasbir Jassi, Rahul Dev, Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Rohit Sharma, Rajeev Shukla and many more.

The PWL-2 is being telecasted live on Sony Max and Sony ESPN (SD & HD) between 7 pm and 9 pm and live streaming on Sony LIV. The interesting and engaging format of making the sport has led to its high entertainment value and highly encouraging viewership numbers.
