As per an ANI report, in a recent media briefing on 27 December in New Delhi, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, unveiled the Government's ambitious plan to position India as a prominent global destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (Mice).
Emphasising India's rich cultural and economic diversity, the strategy focuses on showcasing the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, traditional handicrafts, artisanal offerings, weavers, and manufacturing prowess. The initiative, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to bolster India's global presence and economic engagement through a series of Mega Events, marking a significant step towards strengthening the country's global footprint.
Goyal mentioned, “The Government under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is promoting India as a global Mice (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination to showcase India’s MSME sector, traditional handicrafts, artisanal offerings, weavers and manufacturing prowess”.
In a press release, Goyal disclosed a series of noteworthy events, kicking off with the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav' set to take place from 3 to 10 January, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event aims to highlight a wide range of offerings, featuring products from artisans, weavers, khadi, tribal crafts, MSMEs, and cottage industries, as outlined in the official statement.
Goyal said, “A series of Mega Events are slated in the coming months to elevate India’s position as a global economic powerhouse. The planned line-up of mega events commences with the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav’ scheduled from 3 to 10 January 2024 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This event aims to exhibit a rich array of offerings, including products from artisans, weavers, khadi, tribal crafts, MSMEs, and cottage industries, offering a direct interface between producers and consumers.”
As per the official press release, Goyal unveiled a series of noteworthy events. The 'Indus Food' exhibition is slated to occur at the India Exposition Mart in Greater Noida from 8 to 10 January, 2024, featuring over 1100 exhibitors from almost 120 countries. The focus of the exhibition is on promoting value-added agricultural products with the overarching goal of augmenting farmers' income and generating employment in the food processing sector.
Following this, the 'Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024' is scheduled to take place from February 1 to 3, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, covering an expansive 10 lakh square feet. The exposition will bring together stakeholders from the automobile and mobility sector, showcasing innovations and strengths, with a particular emphasis on next-gen eco-friendly products, construction equipment, and various mobility solutions.
Subsequently, 'Bharat Tex' is planned from 26 to 29 February, 2024, at both Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, spanning nearly 20 lakh square feet. Positioned as one of the largest textile events globally, the exhibition aims to showcase India's end-to-end textile value chain, involving 3500+ exhibitors and 3000+ overseas buyers.
Goyal underscored the scale and ambition of these exhibitions, highlighting India's monumental revolution in global engagement. These events signify a significant shift in India's outreach strategy, fostering greater business and market engagement on a global scale. The Minister expressed optimism that these initiatives would contribute to India's recognition as a key player in the global economic landscape.
