Mausam Sherawat, a senior boxing champion is seen as a strong candidate for the post of President in the election of the Delhi Amateur Boxing Association (DABA). The elections will be held in February 2023. He is currently serving as the Vice President and Chairman of DABA.
This 36-year-old with a post-graduate degree in Hospitality and Human Resource Management from Edith Cowan University, Perth Western Australia has always been inclined towards sports activities.
Speaking to EE about the challenges faced by DABA, he said, “The bigger challenge is to fight for the rights of Delhi players, as neighbouring state players (Haryana) with fake IDs and with the help from the current DABA management are playing state level boxing championship in both states. It has to be stopped.”
“Central government employees of Railways without No Objection Certificate (NOC) are contesting and having top posts in DABA for the last 8 years. They are a liability for both Railways Department and DABA as all of them are having respective boxing academies in their districts (office of profit),” he further added.
When asked about his vision for DABA, Sehrawat said that his priority will be to usher in more transparency in the boxing association.
“A key attribute of this position is a representation of Delhi at the National level.. I will focus on the growth of upcoming boxing players of Delhi and it will be my responsibility and accountability to make maximum effort to represent them well” he added.
