Taipa Village Art Space aims to bring visitors and art lovers on a journey where they can appreciate an array of art from local and international artists. Located in a traditional shop house in the centre of the historic area of Taipa Village, where visitors can savour a rich array of heritage and culture, the art space will be dedicated to showcasing the artwork of both local and international artists. Taipa Village Art Space will debut with the first solo exhibition, P.I.B.G.: On the Verge by a local Macanese Graffiti artist Pat Lam Ka Hou. Pat is a graffiti pioneer whose work has been featured in Macao’s Cotai resorts, including The Venetian Macao and City of Dreams Macao. He has collaborated with numerous fashion and lifestyle brands, such as Moschino, Nike, Vans, Red Bull, as well as HKWall and Stage.
João Ó, President of the Executive Board, Taipa Village Cultural Association states that "This unique exhibition aims to promote the street art scene by connecting outdoor graffiti murals in the neighborhood with a number of graffiti works exhibited inside the art space. This is depicted through the exhibited murals Art-less/full and On the Verge which express the sense that ‘Art is What Matters’. Our aim is to transgress the boundaries of conventional art and create a unique aesthetic experience for both the local community and visitors to appreciate.”
Following the launch of the Art Space, Taipa Village Cultural Association will further complement the Macao government’s efforts to transform Taipa Village into a lively centre for artistic and cultural endeavours, with initiatives including special festive events, live performances and eclectic pop-up concepts. These initiatives will pioneer the concept of sustainable heritage in Macao, allowing visitors to experience a diverse range of artistic and cultural attractions, so as to contribute to the development of non-gaming tourism in the territory.
