The central theme for this year's Jharkhand Tourism stall at PTM 2017 was an 18 sq. meter stall constructed with 3 sides open, designed depicting Lord Buddha and the various Buddhist Relics at Itkhori dated from 200 B.C to 1200 A.D. The pillars were a replica of the Maluti temple. In addition to this Jharkhand’s Wildlife, Waterfalls, Saranda Forests and Netrahat sunset was portrayed.
“To further attract international tourist to the state and especially to promote Itkhori, this event was an ideal platform for us to showcase the State of Jharkhand which is blessed with immense bio-diversity, moderate climate, rich culture and historical heritage, religious places of worship and ethnic aspects to make the state an ultimate destination for tourist” said Rahul Sharma, IAS, Secretary, Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs Dept. Government of Jharkhand.
The Jharkhand Tourism stall was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Rahul Sharma, IAS, Secretary, tourism, art, culture, sports & youth affairs dept along with Mr. Rajiv Ranjan, Joint Director, Jharkhand Tourism. Mr. Karun Bansal, Consul (Political, Commerce & Press), Consulate General of India, Hong Kong paid a special visit to the stall on the opening day. B2B meetings were organized between Jharkhand Tourism officials and leading travel agents and tour operators. Press Interviews were also conducted with Jharkhand Tourism officials.
The 40th edition of PATA Travel Mart was hosted by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), attracted 1,131 delegates from 66 global destinations, as per the statement issued by the PATA. The event saw participation of 460 sellers from 252 organisations and 37 destinations, along with 293 buyers from 281 organisations and 51 source markets.
Held in September every year, PTM showcases travel products and services from the Asia Pacific regional market, drawing interest from a broad cross-section of experienced, pre-qualified buyers.
With an aim to attract more tourists, the state tourism department has drafted several plans to promote heritage tourism, rural tourism, mining tourism, religious tourism and eco-tourism. Another plan entails developing an eco-circuit connecting places of natural beauty within a radius of 250km at an estimated cost of `100 crore.
