Instituto Cervantes has announced a film festival at the India International Centre, running from 11 June to 1 July, 2024. This event will showcase six masterpieces that celebrate Spain’s most iconic film directors, offering a panoramic view of classic Spanish cinema.
"Celebrating Iconic Spanish Film Directors is a take on the bedrock of Spanish cinema. Directors like Buñuel, Berlanga, Saura, Medem, and Fernando Fernán Gómez truly are, each one on its own terms, giants of Spanish cinema. By putting them together in their best films we get an outstanding panoramic view of classic Spanish cinema that keeps constantly reinventing itself," rejoices Oscar Pujol, Director of Instituto Cervantes.
A roundtable discussion titled 'Spotlight on Spanish Cinema: Icons and Masters' will be held on 18 June at 6:30 PM. This discussion will feature prominent film scholars and critics, offering deep insights into the contributions and legacies of these legendary directors.
The festival promises to be a celebration of cinematic brilliance, an enriching experience for film enthusiasts, students, scholars, and anyone interested in the cultural tapestry of Spain that has shaped the global landscape of cinema.
