Goa’s beaches are bustling with tourists as New Year festivities gather momentum following Christmas, particularly along the coastal stretch of North Goa. Visitors from across India and abroad are flocking to the state for the celebrations. According to Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, four-star and five-star hotels are fully booked, reflecting a surge in high-spending tourists, suggested a media report.
The beaches of Calangute, Candolim, Baga, Anjuna, and Mandrem are among the most popular in North Goa, drawing large crowds. While many come to enjoy the surf and sand, adventure seekers engage in activities like parasailing and jet-skiing.
As evening sets in, many groups retreat to hotels to immerse themselves in Goa’s vibrant nightlife. With the New Year on the horizon, the excitement is undeniable, and visitors eagerly await grand beachside celebrations.
“I’ve been visiting for the past seven years. We arrive before Christmas and stay through the New Year celebrations,” said Rajaram Mane, a tourist from Satara, Maharashtra.
He noted that Goa’s lively atmosphere during this season makes it the perfect destination for partying.
Khaunte commented that the impressive tourist turnout highlights the resilience of Goa’s tourism sector, despite negative campaigns aimed at tarnishing its reputation.
"The kind of ambience you get in Goa is unique," he added, mentioning that the Tourism Department has ensured tourists have access to all essential facilities.
He also highlighted that beach shacks were prepared in advance to accommodate the influx of visitors arriving on chartered flights. "New international destinations are now connected to Goa via chartered flights, bringing in even more foreign tourists this time," said.
Alok Kumar, Director General of Police, Goa, assured that adequate security measures have been implemented. "Police personnel are deployed at all prominent locations, and senior officers are overseeing the arrangements," he stated.
