Live shows and on-ground events are currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Artists have taken the opportunity to stream performances from their own homes. Now Facebook is taking things one step further and allowing live streamers to charge their audience.
Users will be able to mark Facebook events as online only and integrate them with Facebook Live. This way the live stream can be broadcasted to the guests.
According to Facebook, this step is taken to enable small businesses and creators.
Facebook also announced additional changes to its live streaming platform, including the option for creators to add donation buttons to their videos. The users will also be able to access just the audio of live streams.
These new features by Facebook will allow users to interact and have access to their favourite creators and pages in a better way.
Facebook is yet to detail the payment system and when the function will come into effect. The feature will also benefit events, conferences and other online shows.
