EXCLUSIVE: Sunburn Founder Shailendra Singh Reacts To Harindra Singh's Departure
In response to the recent announcement regarding Harindra Singh stepping down from his role of overseeing the renowned Sunburn festival, Shailendra Singh, the Co-Founder of Percept Ltd and Sunburn, has shared his perspective on the development.
Notably, Shailendra Singh, along with Harindra Singh and Nikhil Chinappa, launched two influential music festivals in 2007 – Sunburn, dedicated to electronic music, and Metalfest, focused on metal music.
In an interview reflecting on the origins of Sunburn, Singh expressed, “Sunburn was an experiment and Metalfest was a commercial success, but, as I stood in the middle of the Sunburn crowd, listening to Carl Cox play his closing set, I realized that this was the future.”
Responding to the recent transition, Shailendra Singh remarked, “This is what happens when a mechanic tries to pretend to be the manufacturer.”
Harindra Singh, in his statement to Everything Experiential, shared sentiments about his final Sunburn Goa event in December 2023, expressing gratitude to various stakeholders, including the Goa Government, bureaucracy, judiciary, local community, politicians, friends, and fans nationwide for their support throughout the Sunburn journey since 2007.
