Emcees discussed about the art of being spontaneous at the 3rd edition of BW Applause Experiential Marketing Summit and Awards

The life of an Emcee is not as easy as it seems. A lot of challenges are being faced by the fraternity, and several efforts of an emcee are behind the success of an event.

An emcee is one of the most important part of running an event smoothly. Popular emcees from the events industry discuss their stance on how the profession has evolved and the challenges of the profession at the final day of 3rd edition of BW Applause Experiential Marketing Summit and Awards.

In a discussion with the renowned filmmaker, Bhuvan Lall, experienced emcees, Ravin Kundu, Khyati Kava, Swati Sharma, Anisha Dhawan along with Simran Ahuja shared how they never had a plan of being in this business, but when opportunity knocks on the door, one should never say no to it!

On being asked about the challenges which one faces in this industry, Emcee Anisha Dhawan expresses that, “One should have that energy and passion, and should know what the audience wants."  She added that it is a game of balancing acts.

On the other hand, Emcee Ravin Kundu highlights on the unorganised structure of the industry, he said, “Industry should be a little more structured; there should be pre-determined parameters of judging."

As mentioned earlier, the Master of Ceremonies has to face various challenges, including on-stage challenges, to which Anisha Dhawan simply opines, “Mix-ups happen, but you have to handle it well." Khyati Kava has felt gender biases in the hosting business, and feels there is a certain “disparity” between the male and female emcees.

Bhuvan Lall moderated the session further on the notion of how a lot of competition has emerged for emcees with several bollywood celebrities carrying out the job of an anchor so well. Emcee Simran Ahuja, with many years of experience tries to give her best as she believes, “No matter if the emcees are given 30% and the celebrities a 70% of the event for hosting, but one can steal the show even in the 30% part!”

Khyati Kava affirms on the idea of a renowned celebrity being a host “only if he/she has a fair amount of hosting experience but if he/she is in the business due to fame, then the price disparity is not okay!”

These renowned emcees have hosted humongous events, co-hosted with superstars like Shahrukh Khan, Vidya Balan, Katrina Kaif among others. Swati Sharma takes her profession as a “constant learning process and how an emcee has to present something new everytime” and everyone agreed to that!
