BMC Expected To Ban Video Ads On DOOH

Additionally, BMC's technical committee is considering capping the luminosity of digital screens at 3.2 times the ambient light during the night

As per media reports, the draft hoarding policy by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is likely to impose a complete ban on digital video hoardings. The proposed policy is expected to require an eight-second gap between images displayed on digital hoardings.

The traffic police department is believed to have recommended this measure, urging the BMC to include it in the upcoming policy.

Experts speaking to various media have raised concerns that animated or video ads on billboards can distract both drivers and pedestrians. It is believed that guidelines for digital screens will be included in the main out-of-home (OOH) policy, which is in its final stages but may be released later due to ongoing deliberations on technical aspects of certain provisions.

Additionally, BMC's technical committee is considering capping the luminosity of digital screens at 3.2 times the ambient light during the night.
