Media net Works, in collaboration with Jashn-E-Talat by Sahar Zaman, has announced a captivating evening celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary Talat Mahmood.

This event commences on 15 July, 2024, at the Kamani Auditorium, 1, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, New Delhi at 7 pm, promising a journey through soulful music, insightful literature, and graceful dance, all woven together in homage to the golden era of Indian music.

The evening will be illuminated by the presence of the chief guest, Padmashri Shobha Deepak Singh, Vice Chairperson of SBKK, and the guest of honour, Deepak Singh, Chairman, SBKK. Their presence will elevate the stature of this momentous occasion.

Open to all, the evening promises to leave the audiences awestruck by a programme that will open with an inauguration ceremony followed by a rendition of Talat Mahmood’s timeless classics by the vocalist, Amrish Mishra.

This serenade will be followed by a captivating interlude. Author and grandniece of Talat Mahmood, Sahar Zaman will take the stage for a book talk, offering glimpses into the life and legacy of Talat Mahmood. The evening will culminate in a dance performance by the Moving Souls, their choreography capturing the very essence of the era.

In my book, ‘Talat Mahmood: The Definitive Biography,’ I delve into the man behind the voice, exploring his life and the stories that shaped his legendary performances. Tonight, I’m honoured to share some of these insights and celebrate his enduring legacy with all of you.”

Ghazal singer Amrish Mishra says, “Talat Mahmood Ji’s voice has captivated audiences for generations. Not just me or my father, but even my childhood idol Jagjit Singh was a Talat fan during his growing years. My earliest memories of Talat sahab songs are of my father listening to and humming Talat Songs such as 'Zindagi dene waale sun', 'Tasveer banaata hoon..' etc.”
