1.Mumbai Marathon
Established in the year 2004 titled as the Standard Chartered Mumbai International Marathon, it is now known as the Tata Mumbai Marathon. It is an annual international marathon which is held in Mumbai on the third Sunday of January every year and considered to be the largest marathon in Asia. It is said to be the richest race in the country with a prize pool of USD 405,000.
2.Sunburn
The commercial electronic dance music four-day festival started its journey in 2007 in the state of Goa. It is considered to be one of the Asia’s largest music festivals. The festival is an amalgamation of music, entertainment, food, and shopping and attracts younger crowd the most. It was also ranked as one of the top 10 festivals in the world by CNN in 2009. It is organized by Percept Limited, an entertainment, media and communications company. This year the festival was organized at the Oxford Golf Resort, Pune, witnessing multiple stages with artists like Martin Garrix and Afrojack.
3.Indian Premier League (IPL)
Indian Cricket League was founded in year 2007, with funding provided by Zee Entertainment Enterprises. Later on, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the launch of a franchise-based Twenty20 cricket competition called the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the same year. The first season was slated to commence in April 2008, in New Delhi. Now, sponsored by Vivo, it is contested during April and May every year by teams representing Indian cities. It is regarded as the brainchild of Lalit Modi, the Founder and Former Commissioner of the league. IPL, is ranked sixth among all sport leagues and its brand value was estimated to be around US $5.3 billion in 2017, according to Duff and Phelps.
4.India Art Fair
Having commenced its journey in 2008 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, it was previously known as the India Art Summit. The first fair estimates to have been targeted 6000 visitors with 34 exhibiting galleries at the fair and over 550 contemporary and modern artworks. It is now an annual Indian modern and contemporary art fair which includes paintings, sculptures, photography, mixed media, prints, drawings and video art. It also incorporates several pavilions of exhibits by galleries and solo projects by several artists. From the fourth edition onwards, the venue of the event has been shifted from Pragati Maidan to NSIC Grounds, Okhla, New Delhi.
5.International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA)
Produced by Wizcraft International, IIFA Awards are a set of awards presented annually by the International Indian Film Academy to honor both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in Bollywood. Started in the year 2000, the event is organized in different countries around the world in the month of July. The first awards ceremony was celebrated at the Millennium Dome in London, United Kingdom. Since its inception, the event has expanded from a one-night event to a three-day celebration. The IIFA awards of 2017 was held at East Rutherford, New Jersey, from July 14 to 15.
6.Kala Ghoda Arts Festival
Having begun its voyage in the late 1990s, the nine days long annual festival is celebrated on first Saturdays of February every year, in the Kala Ghoda area of South Mumbai, India. The festival has grown in stature and popularity, attracting visitors and participants from other parts of the country. It is organised by the Kala Ghoda Association- a non-profit organization that states its objectives as ‘Physically upgrading the Kala Ghoda sub-precinct and making it the Art District of Mumbai’- and is curated by teams handling each of the 12 sections of the festival.
