“Mind The Heart” - Project By Israeli Artists Maya Gelfman & Roie Avidan To Be Presented In India

The Embassy of Israel in India, in collaboration with ONKAF Gallery, is proud to present in India a new exhibition by Israeli artists Maya Gelfman and Roie Avidan. Titled ‘Bodies of Work’, the exhibition will open today, 10th February 2023 at 6:30pm at ONKAF Gallery, New Delhi and will be on view till 3rd March 2023.

The exhibition presents a series of photographs and is part of ‘Mind the Heart! Project’, a worldwide art project established in 2009 by the two artists. In the past decade, the project has reached more than 100 cities in different countries including India.

Ambassador of Israel to India H.E. Naor Gilon said, “We are happy to collaborate with our local partners in India to encourage cultural cooperation between our peoples. As an embassy we continue to promote art exhibitions, exchange of artistic groups and other cultural events among youth. So it gives us great pleasure to present this unique exhibition in India, which has been produced by two young Israeli artists who travel around the world. It's also special as it comes on the occasion of both countries celebrating the completion of 30 years of full diplomatic relations. Culture is playing an important role in bringing our peoples together and strengthening our growing partnership with India.”

The artists said, “We are delighted to be back in New Delhi, to finally realize an artistic dream that started 3 years ago, with ONKAF Gallery. It’s heartwarming and raises the optimism that conversations that started just before the Covid pandemic can now be re-visited and visions accomplished. We are coming full circle in this exhibition.”

Sharad Chauhan, Director at ONKAF Gallery said, “We are delighted to present an exhibition by Israeli artists Maya Gelfman & Roie Avidan at Gallery ONKAF supported by the Embassy of Israel, New Delhi. Their works can be viewed as markers of a specific time and space in a societal framework. A lot of thought has gone into the pictures, in the making of the overall expressiveness that convey the content in the best way for further understanding of daily lives. As a reflection of their state of mind, a demarcation between one’s interior and exterior self becomes visible in the works of this exhibition, raising questions on the structure of our daily existence in the changing world around us.”
