Steve Jeisman, Group Director, Alila Experiences has played a pivotal role in creating the natural signature amenities and spa products for the brand Alila, developing and launching 'Spa Alila' globally. A passionate sports man who follows movements in sports science, aromatherapy and alternative healing, Jeisman spoke to Everything Experiential about wellness and how Alila represents it.
“We represent a bespoke range of wellness resorts in India such as the 'Alila Diwa Goa' which is an exclusive resort situated amidst the lush paddy plantations, where one can explore the charm and beauty of South Goa. The spa provides age old healing traditions of Ayurveda and bespoke wellness programs. One of our properties 'Alila Seminyak' in Bali is transitioning into a wellness holiday destination, offering guests exclusive bespoke treatments”, says Jeisman.
Speaking about the way wellness market has evolved over the years, Jeisman explains, “Looking at the wellness market today we see that it evolves around spa treatments, breathing, yoga and meditation. I think the definition of wellness is changing rapidly with time, as we might include laugh systems, laugh management therapies in it too. Wellness Industry is the fastest growing tourism sector in the world right now and is, in fact, breaking into a few different dynamics today, as on one side it's like beauty and clinical side of it like the Botox and Cosmetic Surgery and on the other side is the Natural Wellness Treatments and Therapies”.
According to Jeisman, Ayurveda plays in the wellness industry and Alila Spas provide a full range of the Ayurvedic services and alternative therapies which are unique for every property located be that in China, Indonesia or here in India. “We have 21 days regime at our Ayurvedic retreats where one should leave oneself completely to our spa professionals and experts and a team of full time Ayurvedic doctors who infuse both international and domestic medicinal practices, to provide the best cures and therapies. While, for India we are creating some new compositions that will be attractive for the Indian market. We have an exciting range of products like the Detox Detour by Spa Alila that is suitable for every market segment be it our Indian or international guests”, says Jeisman.
Looking at the Business Hotels today, even they have become sensitive towards the wellness dimension, they are equipping with lot of wellness equipment’s to do push-ups and chin-ups and provide their guests to choose from healthy juices instead of hard drinks that one can tick while booking room preferences. “We at Alila are too trying to adopt our systems as per the need of our target clients, because we believe one can travel across the world do business and also follow healthy practices, eat well and exercise. But those who have an abusive lifestyle and don't follow, unfortunately breakdown and need hospitalization, wellness is all about prevention”, explains Jeisman.
