There Is An Enormous Technology Driven Future In Terms Of Digital: Sanjoy Roy, MD, Teamwork Arts

At the recent Event Tech Conference organised by BW Applause and everythingexperiential.com in association with BW Businessworld and BW Marketing World, Sanjoy Roy, Managing Director, Teamwork Arts spoke about the rise of virtual events and thereby the virtual economy and its relevance in the future.
Roy raised few critical questions during his keynote address--Does the new virtual digital make for an economy? Will it propel the experiential economy?
Roy shared examples of how the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) has adjusted to the demands of the pandemic times and been able to stay relevant and profitable.
“When we ended the last financial year, just from digital revenues in India we did Rs 7.5 crore. We will continue to be a physical and a digital product and we will never go back to being only a physical product because there is an enormous technology driven future in terms of digital. I think you will see the minute there is an opportunity for mask off you there will be a resurgence and then the key is going to be—how do we match it together”, shared Roy.
Roy also had few suggestions for the event tech platforms. In his view they should reflect the local flavour rather than copy the global counterparts.
“When we build our exhibition platforms, why haven’t we been able to convert them into having an Indian look, a craft look, a look that celebrates our colour, our noise, our excitement, our festivals, our incredible sense of design. Why is it still glass and chrome?”, he questioned.
Roy also spoke about the rise of teleporting and said that it was still someway a way, but it still doesn’t feel real.
“I think the magic and the money both are in this space. How do we continue to do what we are doing in the digital framework and how do we marry it with a physical experience and make it better, more accessible, more glamorous, better looking , better driven events, on time, on schedule and of course accessible to everybody across the world”, he questioned.
