Sunburn CEO, Karan Singh, confirms Pune as new venue, says city officials are in raptures

“We found a fantastic location, and we are looking forward to giving our visitors a remarkable experience, because Sunburn is all about the venue,” said Karan Singh, CEO, Sunburn. The much-awaited music festival, organized by Percept, is happening this year co-presented by Renault and Gionee, at Kesnand district, Haveli, near Pune. The venue is called Sunburn Hills, and Karan promises that it is going to be “epic”.

For those who have been to Pune, the attraction of its natural beauty and laidback pace is well known. Add to it, good music to the backdrop and some stargazing by the fireside. Yes! That’s what Karan hinted at. There is going to be a camping option and facility at the four-day festival.

Sunburn 2016 is scheduled for 28-31st December. Last year the festival drew an attendance of 100000 people, with visitors from all around the world. So is Sunburn going to change the new-year vacation destination from Goa to Pune? How do you emulate the natural footfall? Karan certainly seems very optimistic about that. “People will come to Pune for Sunburn itself, we are expecting a lot of attendance. Pune is home to a massive millennial crowd, with lots of colleges, IT offices, a thriving nightlife, restaurants and bars. We aim to capture and amplify the soul of the culture. Also, not to forget, the venue is huge and Sunburners would have an altogether different experience,” he expressed.

Previous editions of Sunburn have hosted artists like Afrojack, Paul Oakenfold, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, John Fleming. Shapeshifters, Sander van Doorn and Ferry Corsten. While this year’s line-up will be announced by the end of the coming week, word from Karan Singh is that it’s going to be a world-class music festival experience, bigger and better.

Commenting on the response from the authorities, Karan said, “Maharashtra tourism is very supportive and is going out of the way to help us make the festival successful. They are very happy that a big festival like Sunburn is coming their way.”

Though some of us would feel a little reluctant to let go of the beach side nostalgia, Sunburn masterminds seem to be bent on change, as they inform us that there is no immediate prediction to locate back to Goa. For a closer look at what led to the change in venue read this!

So while Sunburners, rev up for a whole new brand experience, the question on everyone’s mind remains- Will Pune be able to bell the cat?
