Men can play a bigger role in gender conversations: Samar Sikka, Harvard Business School

At the recent Lean In Chapter in New Delhi, which was powered by BW Businessworld and co-powered by Sipping Thoughts, Samar Sikka of Harvard Business School spoke about how his movement ‘He for She’ and how men could play a greater role in gender conversations.

Speaking about the movement ‘He for She’ Sikka said, “Our aim at ‘He for She’ in India is to get more men involved in the conversations. We want to encourage them to help us not just in raising awareness about the gender issues but to help us by leading through example.”

Underlining how men can play a bigger role in addressing gender sensitive issues, he said, “We want to work with more men and make them realise that our ideologies are frame of references and we should open up to diverse perspectives.”

“There is a study done about human beings which says that at our very core we are all decent, humble , gracious and respectful”, he added.

Sikka  also spoke about how Lean in has supported his cause and he urged people to join his mission and share best practices to address the gender issue.
