"I am the 149th richest man in India because I romanced with risk", said Dr Velumani while delivering his keynote at the recently held e4m BW Applause Conclave & Awards 2017 at Hotel Lalit Mumbai on 6 October 2017.

Owning a Rs 3300 Crore business has taken more than hard work and dedication and in the words of Dr. Velumani, “You need to fail to become successful."

After leaving his job at BARC with Rs 2 Lakh in his fixed deposit he decided that he wanted to create some scope in thyroid care. Just to make it more affordable, the cost of thyroid check-ups was set up at Rs. 100 which gave an enormous boost to the company.

"Take less to get more was my motto along with doing something unique from what everyone else was doing in the healthcare business", Dr. Velumani explained.

Underling the importance of Romancing with Risk to build lasting businesses, Dr. Velumani stressed on that the mindset should always be about doing something unique rather than making money.

 "When I reached Rs 1000 Crore I focused even more which led to disruption." Adding to the success story of the company Dr. Velumani said, "In 2016 the company grew to a value of Rs. 3300 Crore"

To end the session Dr. Velumani dedicated his success to his late wife for being the real support in establishing Thyrocare as the most formidable brand in the country.
