In an attempt to engage people of all age groups in sports, P3 sports has come up with this novel initiative, to provide corporate workers a window to participate in sporting activities. “They really work hard. This is meant to present them a fun weekend as well as provide a networking platform,” said Moonmoon Mukherjee, an international TT player, certified international (ITTF) coach and the mentor to the P3 Sports team.
17 companies participated in the tournament, which encompassed men’s singles, women’s singles, veteran’s singles, and men’s doubles categories. The otherwise reserved corporate executives let the spirited child inside out by turning the Khar gymkhana ground into a charged battlefield. The men’s single was won by Accenture against tough competition from JLT. Nutan Dhakle from SBI carried away the cup for women’s singles with her energy and skill. The initial hesitant pace transformed into consuming thrill as Sunday evening advanced towards the completion of the team championship final played by HDFC and TCS. All the while, the Chief Referee, Mr Khedkar and his team of umpires monitored the event with calm dexterity. But, it not the awards but the spirit that made the day, as each executive profusely commended this initiative by P3 sports, while departing in adrenaline fuelled glory.
The veterans were amazing in their energy and enthusiasm, as Vivek Bhargava from Iprospect sweated it out with Sushas Chavhan from Medialake, finally seizing the title. This overwhelming response has encouraged P3 Sports’ upcoming plan to hold an international Veteran’s Table Tennis Tournament. While cricket and football are generally prevalent in the country, P3 Sports has showcased a novel insight in promoting table tennis, badminton and squash. In the opinion of Moonmoon, these games, while being familiar to everyone, adds a spice of variety. P3 Sports hosts a coaching academy in Mumbai which imparts TT training at grassroot level. It has collaborations with several schools including American School of Bombay, Hiranandani Foundation school and Universal chain of Schools.
The evening brought together many people, renowned for diverse accomplishments. A pep-talk from Mr. Iza Jameel, reputed speaker and brand strategist, set the happy mood. The presentation ceremony was honoured by Mr. Rohitesh Halder, Table Tennis secretary Khar Gymkhana and Treasurer of MSDTTA, Mr Tushar Kanti Ghosh, a veteran TT player and patron of P3 Sports and Mrs. Simran Deenz Ahuja, winner of Ms India World 2013, who graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest & Mr Sarvesh Kedia , General Manager - Operations of International Institute of Sports Management , Mumbai .
Moonmoon quoted, “Table Tennis is world's second fastest game & this game goes well with corporate scenario as while playing table tennis the decision making ability of a player is the key point to winning a point , fastest decision making skill considered as key of a successful business in the corporate world too. P3 Sports therefore undertook an experiential campaign that not only promotes sports but also justifies the benefits that will ensue.”
Ignited by their success, P3 sports is now focussing on their next events “Indoor corporate Game” and an open tournament for kids aged 10-14, to promote the increasing interest in amateurs and provide them with competitive training.
