Over 70 Lakh Weddings Worth Rs 13 Lakh Cr To Be Solemnised Between Jan-June 2023

Over 70 lakh weddings worth Rs 13 lakh Cr are set to be solemnised between  Jan-June 2023.

According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), around 70 lakh weddings will be solemnised all over the country during this period with a massive flow of about 13 lakh crores of rupees by way of wedding purchasing and utilization of various wedding-related services by the people.

The wedding season will begin on 15th January and will continue till 27th June. It is estimated that in Delhi alone, more than 7 lakh weddings will be solemnised with an estimated expenditure of about 1.25 lakh crore of rupees. 

As per estimates drawn by the CAIT, there are 53 auspicious dates for weddings in this season. Last year in the month of November- December, 32 lakh marriages were solemnised all over the Country with an expenditure of 3.75 lakh crore.

CAIT National President B.C.Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal informed that in this six month long marriage season which is having 53 auspicious days for marriage, about 10 lakh weddings will have an estimated expenditure of Rs 3 lakh per wedding, while in about 10 lakh weddings the six-month-long ding will be around 5 lakh , 15 lakh weddings will cost 10 lakhs per marriage, 10 lakh wedding with an expenditure of Rs.15 lakh,  10 lakhs marriages will cost 25 lakhs per marriage, 10 lakh wedding costing Rs.35 lakh per wedding, 3 lakh marriages will have 50 lakhs expenditure per wedding and 2 lakh marriages with an expense of 1 crore or more amount. 

Acharya Durgesh Tare, Chairman of the Spiritual and Vedic Knowledge Committee of CAIT and an eminent Vedic scholar from Ujjain said that according to the calculation of stars, the auspicious days include 9 days in January, 14 days in February, 6 days in March, 13 days in May and 11 days in June month bringing a total of 53 auspicious days. Besides, there are large numbers of people of different religions and sects who do marriages without having any consideration of auspicious dates.

Bhartia and Khandelwal said that about 20 per cent of the expenditure of each marriage goes to the broom-bride's side while 80 per cent of the expenditure goes to other third agencies working in solemnizing the marriage and notably this money per cent stuck but keeps rolling in the markets by way of expenditures of different kinds by the people and helps in maintaining financial liquidity in the markets. 

Because of the wedding season, a large amount of business happens in the repair of houses and painting of houses. Apart from this, jewellery, sarees, lehenga-choli, furniture, readymade garments, clothes, footwear, wedding and greeting cards. dry fruits, sweets, fruits, worship items, grocery, food grains, decoration items, home decoration items, electrical utility, electronics and many gift items etc are usually in demand and it is expected to do good business this year.

Bhartia and Khandelwal said that banquet halls, hotels, open lawns, community centres, public parks, farmhouses and many other types of places for weddings are fully prepared across the country including Delhi. 

In addition to the purchase of accessories at each wedding, a wide variety of services are also involved, including tent decorators, flower decorations, crockery, catering service, travel service, cab service, professional welcoming groups, vegetable vendors, photographers, Videographer, Band-Baja, Shehnai, Orchestra, DJ, horses for the procession, wagons, lights and many other types of services are likely to do big business this time. Along with this, event management and packaging have also emerged as big businesses. It has also emerged as a big business for Pandits, scholars and other knowledgeable persons who perform marriages.
