As women across the country continue to share their chilling experiences of sexual and mental harassment, it makes one wonder if the Indian events fraternity much like other industries needs a structure of its own to safeguard women’s interest.
We Care is Entertainment & Events Management Association’s initiative for gender equality at workplace and is a way of showing women that their safety, dignity and work-life balance is being taken care of.
We Care and SHLC, together curated a special workshop, exclusively for EEMA agency owners to enable them in creating safe workplaces. Facilitated by a certified Sexual Harassment expert, Aparajita Amar founder of SHLC, the objective of the workshop was to create awareness, sensitization and provide practical solutions to agency owners.
SHLC assists companies in complying with the Sexual Harassment Laws by drafting anti-sexual harassment policies, sensitization and awareness sessions and ICC capacity building, enabling workplaces to be inclusive, diverse and gender-neutral.
A prominent topic of the workshop was gender-neutral safe workplaces and the employer roles and duties for the same.
The workshop was attended by EEMA members and others from the event industry. Sabbas Joseph, Co-Founder, Wizcraft and Poonam Lal, Chair Gender Equality, EEMA, showed their whole hearted support and participated at the workshop. Representatives from agencies QED Communications, Brandwidth Events Showcraft, C S Direkt, Rashi Entertainment, Vibgyor, Kingsmen, Dance Smith, Zenith, Innobuzz Marketing Solutions and Story Events were also present.
The workshop was highly interactive with training videos and real life case-studies which incited one to think about the safety of female employees at their respective offices and about the issues faced by them in the overall events workspace.
