Red FM's 'The Yellow Taxi Music Project' brings together iconic folk and rock bands

93.5 RED FM brings back to Kolkata the second edition of ‘The Yellow Taxi Music Project’ on 11th January 2020, at Nicco Park Big Lawns. The festival celebrates the indigenous music of India and brings together an experience of cultural heritage along with an artist line-up that will surely strike a chord – Jawed Ali, Lou Majaw, Mame Khan, Soulmate and Darshan Raval.

Along with unwinding to the soulful melodies, savor regional delicacies from across the country and entertainment to tune up the tempo and make you have the best time. So, break away from your mundane routine and soak up the happy vibe of ‘The Yellow Taxi Music Project’!

Soulmate

A blues rock band from Shillong, Meghalaya who has been enthralling the audience since 2003 the band has found a cult following all over India. Be it their incredible vocal skills or their fine guitar tuning, the music that they compose is largely influenced from their life experiences.  Some of their popular tracks include ‘Voodo woman’, ‘Set me free’ and ‘Lie’ and have slow and earthy sound of Khasi music blended seamlessly with Western blues. What’s more? You can catch them live on 11th January at RED FM’s ‘The Yellow Taxi Music Festival’ in Kolkata.

 Lou Majaw                                                                                                     

A self-taught guitarist, the ‘Bob Dylan of India’ was inspired Dylan’s music, and he started organizing "Dylan's birthday concert" every year in Shillong since 1972. Majaw, now is in his 70’s now and is rightfully called the pride of Shillong. His contribution to the Indian musical scene has helped careers of many emerging musicians. Watch him performing live on 11th January at Red FM’s The Yellow Taxi Music Festival in Kolkata. 

Mame Khan

A nationally acclaimed folk singer from Rajasthan who has successfully dabbled a Bollywood career by singing in various films like Luck By Chance (2009), I Am (2010), No One Killed Jessica (2011), Mirzya (2016) and Sonchiriya (2019). In 2012, he also performed his popular tracks ‘Chaudhary’ and ‘Badari Badriyan’ at Coke Studio Season 2 with famous Bollywood singer and composer Amit Trivedi.

Javed Ali

Predominantly, a Bollywood singer, Javed Ali also sings in Bengali, Malayalam, Telegu, Urdu among other languages. He has been extensively trained in qawwali and kirtan by his father Ustad Hamid Hussain. Ali became famous with his playback singing for Naqaab (2007), Jodha Akbar (2008), Ghajni (2008), Delhi -6 (2008), Raanjhana (2013)  Bajrangi Bhaijan ( 2017), Kalank (2019) and many other films later on. Over the years, he has judged multiple reality shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2011 on Zee TV, Great Music Gurukul 2015 on Colors Bangla, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2017 on Zee TV and Indian Idol Season 10 in 2018 on Sony Entertainment Television.

Darshan Raval

A multi-talented singer, songwriter composer and actor , Darshan Raval came into limelight with the Indian  reality show   ‘India's Raw Star’ where he got the 1st runner up spot. He has done playback singing in Bollywood films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), Loveyatri (2018), Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga (2019) among others. His singles ‘Tera Zikr’ and ‘Hawa Banke’ are chartbusters on YouTube.
