The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) is set to present Artie’s Festival 2024, scheduled for 17 and 18 April, 2024 at the Experimental Theatre. Curated by French cellist Gauthier Hermann and Khushroo N. Suntook, Chairman, NCPA, this season’s lineup includes renowned classics, lesser-known works, and adaptations of significant orchestral compositions.
Hermann first visited India in 2001 as a promising young cellist and has been returning ever since. After his initial visit, he came back with his Trio con Fuoco and later, the Neemrana quartet, laying the groundwork for Artie’s Festival. The inaugural festival concerts occurred in March 2008 at the NCPA, and since then, the festival has expanded across Southeast Asia, Central Asia, the Gulf, and Europe.
The ensemble for this festival features Hugo Meder and Mathilde Borsarello Herrmann on violin, Violaine Despeyroux on viola, Gauthier Hermann on cello, and Jean-Michel Dayez on piano. The program on 17 April, 2024, will showcase works such as Lekeu's Sonata in G major, Ravel's Piano Trio in A minor, and Shostakovich's Piano Quintet in G minor Op. 57. The following day’s performances will include Schumann's Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Opus 47, and Dvorak's Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, Op. 81.
