Kaleidoscope 2019-Annual fest of Sophia College is here!

Sophia College returns with its beloved festival, with a theme that focuses on humanity, growth and how the future will look, what it will hold. The theme of the festival this year, In Future Tense tries to look into the future and understand society, culture, technology, science, trends and many other things that make up our world.

A lot of events were planned and held, to gear everyone up for the festival, with various online campaigns and contests. Team Pre-Kaleidoscope was responsible for the planning of execution of most of these events, and the two events that were eagerly anticipated by the Workforce and fans of the festival, were the Social Cause Rally and the Flash Mob.

The workforce puts in a considerable amount of effort every year, to create a performance for the Flash Mob that is performed in association with the festival’s Official Mall Partner, which was Infinity 2, Malad this year. Over 500 Students made their presence known in the mall on the day of the Flash mob, which was on the 23rd of August. It started at 3:00 pm, with students proudly sporting official Kaleidoscope 2019 merchandise and mingling. The Flash mob dancers performed twice, to the excitement, cheers and avid support of the workforce and their energy and enthusiasm blew everyone away. They had been practicing every single for over a month tirelessly, and gave a performance that invigorated everyone. After the performance, the Executive Committee took the stage and announced the imminent arrival of the festival, with the event being brought to an end by the lively routine chant of the workforce, “Boom, Snap, Clap, HEY! KSCOPE!”.

The Social Cause Rally, another loved pre-kaleidoscope activity, is a way for all students to truly contribute and give back to society. Every year, Kaleidoscope partners with an NGO, and commits to a social cause that deserves to be heard out loud, and needs to be championed for

the sake of social justice and equality. This year, Kaleidoscope had the honour and fortune of associating with UNICEF India as them joining hands with the fest in the capacity of the Official Goodwill Partner. The cause for this year was, “Violence Against Children”, and was held at Carter Road. The rally started at 3:00 pm outside the Rizvi Complex, with every team wearing blue in honour of the cause, and many workforce members held handmade signs to support the cause, and shouted slogans, like “Children are the hope of the future, treat them well!”, to rouse and rally everyone together. Children from the NGO kicked things off with a fantastic dance and skit about the cause, and the Flashmob dancers ended things on a spirited note with a rendition of their own performance.

While Elimination Rounds for many events start by the 9th of September, the days to look forward to, for Kaleidoscope 2019, are the 14th and 15th of September, 2019.
