Hyundia Motor India Foundation brings the noted H – Social Creator Platform to India

The Hyundai Motor India Foundation ably assisted by the Asset Group and its MD Sanjay M Lal, brought to India the first-ever chapter of H-Social Creator India. The event was hosted by Gittika Ganju Dhar. On the day of the finale, were present members of Hyundai Motor India Foundation, Hyundai Motor India Limited and the Asset Group.

One can go on and on, talking about the critical issues that the world is faced with. But conversations revolving around challenges need to lead into on-ground battles. Solutions need to be drafted, innovated and implemented at a war footing. As Iris Watts had once said - In a world full of problems, be the solution.

So, one such endeavor to find a solution started in the year 2015 in South Korea where the HSC platform was first introduced, to lead the world into another dimension by making an impact through the vision, efforts and creativity of the “Drivers of Tomorrow”. Thousands of young students came together to introduce fresh ideas, to tackle the various community-based challenges that we face, making the program an instant hit. From South Korea, HSC moved to other countries and made its mark.

In 2019, Hyundai Motor India Foundation, with the able assistance of the asset group, is proud to bring HSC to India for the very first time, and that too in a brand new avatar.

The Grand Finale Jury members, Mr. Rana Som, Former CMD of National Mineral Development Corporation, Mr. Subir Gupta, the Founding Partner at Sustainability Advisors and also Senior Advisor at ERM and Mr. Deepak Kumar Swain, MD and Country Head of Kongsberg Digital India not only viewed the presentations made by the ten finalists but engaged with them via robust question and answer sessions.

The competition saw more than 1400 students register from across different categories of institutions, IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi, Hindu College Delhi, Amity University Noida, NMIMS Mumbai, IIMS Pune, REC College Chennai and RV College Bangalore to name a few. The participation resulted in more than 200 ideas of which the first 55 were shortlisted. While all the ideas were thought-provoking, together with our regional jurors we further sharpened the picking lens and landed at 30 Ideas. Ten finally made it to the finale contest. The finalists flew from the length and breadth of the country – Madurai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Raipur, Dehradun, Mumbai and drove in from Kurukshetra and Noida, each student vying for the top prize of INR 15 lakh seed capital investment, each student trying to change the world. The 15 lakh seed capital investment was awarded to two students – Tamilselvi and N. Sivakumar for further developing their ingenious, innovatory and inventive ideas. Tamilselvi presented headlights intensity control using sensors, an affordable option for the mass market and Sivakumar curated the idea of IoT based Drum Composting System with Solar Panel.

The event unfolded at the India Habitat Centre in December.

Hope 2020, the oncoming year will see many such ideas being implemented, to help save the planet we inhabit. After all, the clock is ticking and we do want to celebrate 2100 too!
