Supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India, DLF5 is going to host the 13th Asia Pacific Golf Summit (APGS2019) at DLF Golf and Country Club in the month of November this year. It is for the first time that APGS will be hosted in India. The three day summit will commence on 4th and culminate on 6th of November 2019.
The Summit will be a huge networking opportunity for all stakeholders, investors, golf companies, Tourism fraternity and sponsors as important faces leading the business of Golf. Unlike past summits, APGS 2019 aims to look at the future of golf through the prism of the vision and wisdom of an ancient land, with the hope of drawing new inspiration to guide the industry forward into the future. India being a young nation, possesses the hunger and drive to embrace what is new and to drive current trends in all walks of life, to newer heights.
“We have considered India as a possible venue since 2012 and are delighted that it’s finally happening in a nation as vast and diverse as India. We believe that we have a venue and a country that is going to lead the thrust and growth of golf in Asia and together with China and the rest of Asia, we will see a whole new world centre for golf emerge in the not too distant future,” said Mike Sebastian, Chief Executive Officer of the Asia Pacific Golf Group, the owner and producer of APGS.
The theme for APGS 2019 will be centred around “A 5G – Mindset For Golf’s Future”. It is analogous to the mind-numbing disruptive changes that the much awaited 5G technology is going to bring to the world. What is happening in the telco industry sets the stage on why and how the golf industry needs to adapt and cope with the hyper-change that is looming!
“It is a matter of great pride and fortune that Asia Pacific Golf Summit is coming to India in the same year when DLF Golf Country Club completes its 20 years. Indian Golf has come a long way in these two decades and with a motivation to achieve a brighter future, we are hosting APGS-2019 which is going to be a milestone achievement in the history of Golf in India. I congratulate all the members and stakeholders of Golf fraternity and players that have brought laurels to our nation.” said Aakash Ohri, Sr Executive Director, DLF Home Developers Ltd.
The summit will draw experts from all over the world and their prime focus will be to share proven best practices in the field of golf club and golf course management and like in the past, APGS 2019, will showcase leading-edge know-how designed to help Asian operators to be the best that they can be.
With a 5G mind-set for Golf`s future, the idea is to design a transformation to stir up an interest to bring in new and younger golfers and keep this new mind-set sustainable over the long run. The summit is a collective effort on the part of the game’s gatekeepers, course owners and operators around the continent.
The summit will also unveil some of the industry’s biggest names and the programme will feature a fascinating blend of new speakers as well as some of the stalwarts. Awards ceremony and gala dinner night will be hosted on 6th November 2019.
India is already a force especially in professional golf with the likes of veterans like Jeev Milkha Singh and Arjun Atwal who took Indian golf to the world stage. Young players like Shubhankar Sharma and Anirban Lahiri are bringing golf to the youth. These young champions have given a fresh thrust to Golf in the country.
