Bollywood actress & fitness enthusiast, Disha Patani is all set to pedal at the second edition of Saksham Pedal Delhi, India’s premier cyclothon, scheduled to be held on the 7th of Oct at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. An initiative of PCRA, supported by Oil & Gas PSUs, in collaboration with DO IT Sports Management, under the technical expertise of Cycling Federation of India (CFI), SPD is expected to have over 6000 participants, across four categories – Elite Race, Amateur Race, Open & Green Ride
Scheduled to be flagged off from the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the event will see participation from Indian athletes and amateur riders who will be competing for a prize money fund of Rs 10 lacs. Up to 10 lucky participants in the Green Ride will stand a chance to win bicycles on event day.
Speaking at the announcement, Disha Patani said “It’s fantastic that PCRA & DO IT Sports Management are leveraging its popularity and addressing the importance of health, environment & fuel conservation through cycling which is also today the fastest growing recreational activity in India. Cycling was a big part of my childhood and it has continued to be a sport that I indulge in. I am very excited to be a part of India’s Premier Cyclothon and I am looking forward to cycling with the people of Delhi-NCR.”

Commenting on the association, Alok Tripathi, ED, PCRA said, “Saksham Pedal Delhi, 2018 will aim to profess the importance of socio-environmental consciousness by promoting cycling, both as a lifestyle and as an alternate means of commute, especially for shorter distances for day to day activities such as cycling to work or riding to nearby places. Not only does this save fuel and money, but also keeps us healthy and fit, contributing to the reduction of vehicular emission by reducing congestion and improving traffic flow. We are looking forward to having Disha Patani with us on event day & given her popularity, we are confident that our message to conserve fuel will connect with the youth of our country.”
Online registrations for the Saksham Pedal Delhi will close on 2nd of October and rental cycles will be available on a first-cum-first-serve basis, at a nominal fee. Participants can collect their rider pack (bibs, cycling helmet, sipper, wristband & a t-shirt) on the 5th & 6th of October from the JLN Weight-Lifting stadium. Four lucky participants will get a chance to meet with Disha Patani.
