Apple has begun informing developers and students who have been randomly chosen to attend the in-person segment of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) at Apple Park in 2024. Set for 10 June, the event will unveil Apple's latest software developments, such as iOS 18, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS, through a pre-recorded keynote presentation.
The attendees will witness the live keynote at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California. They will engage in exclusive developer activities, meet with Apple experts and engineers and partake in the Apple Design Awards, followed by a dinner hosted by the company.
Registration for the in-person segment opened on 26 March and closed on 3 April. The lottery was accessible to existing members of the Apple Developer Program, Apple Developer Enterprise Program, Apple Entrepreneur Camp alumni and Swift Student Challenge winners from 2022 to 2024.
Participants can collect their badges on 9 June during a reception event at Apple's Infinite Loop campus.
Prior to the pandemic, WWDC was a physical event held in San Jose, California, requiring developers to purchase tickets priced at 1,599 USD. Since 2020, the conference has predominantly been online, with limited in-person gatherings at Apple Park beginning in 2022.
Developers not chosen for the in-person event can still engage in WWDC 2024 online, running from 10 to 14 June. They will gain access to the keynote presentation, WWDC sessions and the chance to interact with Apple engineers virtually.
Speculations hint at significant changes with iOS 18, anticipated to be a focal point at WWDC 2024, including AI-based features and a revamped home screen organisation. While hardware announcements are infrequent at WWDC, there are murmurs of Apple potentially unveiling new devices, akin to last year's Vision Pro mixed-reality headset.
