Hospital staff in California went above and beyond to help a terminally ill man fulfil his wish of walking his daughter down the aisle by hosting an expedited wedding ceremony in the facility’s chapel. Abraham Arceo, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a year ago, saw his condition deteriorate rapidly in recent weeks. Concerned he wouldn't make it to his daughter Brittny's planned wedding to Alan Tran on June 28, the team at Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Orange pulled together to make the ceremony happen.
The hospital staff used their resources to set up the event in the first-floor chapel near Arceo's room, creating a touching moment that quickly went viral.
Tran and his wife had already exchanged pre-ceremony vows to care for each other’s parents. Family, friends and Arceo’s hospital care team attended the service, where Arceo mustered the strength to walk his daughter to the altar.
“That’s one thing he just wants to make sure, to walk me down and give me away,” Brittny Tran told NBC4. “It means everything because he’s my best friend and I hate seeing him hurt. And whenever I see him happy, it just makes me happy.”
