Each student planted a sapling in honor of their favorite teacher, alongside the sapling; there was also a plaque with the teachers’ name on it along with details on the plant and the specie it originated from. The activity was unique in the sense that each student by planting a sapling gifted the teacher with a gift that would last a lifetime and also at the same time these students were making their tiny contribution to the environment in making it greener by planting saplings.
An elated, Mr. Saumitra Prasad, Chief Marketing Officer, Kokuyo Camlin Ltd said, “At Kokuyo Camlin, we are conscious about protecting the environment; In fact, we have had several initiatives, wherein we have planted saplings in Pithoragarh region along with Eco Task Force, we have had initiatives sensitizing kids about saving the River Ganga, more recently we have joined hands with Rally For Rivers; to highlight the depletion of rivers across the country. The National Teachers’ Day event is in sync with our objective of creating awareness about the environment by getting the kids to plant saplings for their teachers. While it is a good opportunity for children to show their appreciation for their teacher it also creates an awareness about planting trees and saving the environment. As part of our endeavor, we have encouraged school children to use mechanical pencils which do not use any wood. I also extend my humble gratitude to the CK Group of Educational Institutions for their support.”
The teachers were extremely humbled and touched with this gesture that each student had taken in planting a sapling in their name and were extremely thrilled with the idea that a sapling had been planted with a plaque on their name.
